    filling a UQ with down?

Tell us how your down is packaged and how many ounces you intend to place in each chamber. Best methods vary, depending in these things.

Re: filling a UQ with down?

If you have a tent... Do you work inside the tent that way the down is contained...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

I wet my down thoroughly (soaked for several hours and it STILL was not entirely wet), then simply put it in by small hands-full. Then sewed it up and ran it through the dryer. No problem with down floating around.

Of course, I made my UQ with KARO baffles, so didn't have to make exact measurements. Though you still could by calculating wet instead of dry weights.

I tried that method and failed horribly.lol. I found the ShopVac Method works the best.

Just take a shopvac hose and rubber band a small piece of No-See-Um Mesh netting over the end of the hose and then slip the hose extension over it and vac up half an ounce and slide the tube into the baffle and pop loose and take a stick or broom handle and push the down out into the baffle. This Link here has some pictures of how I did it.

1 plus on the shop vac. Do mine right in the kitchen no mess. I got a old sewing machine foot pedal wired it into a extension cord,so I have a foot control. Have the box with the down sitting a scale. Have 2 extensions with the no-seeum in between them. When I get the down in I take them of the hose and I blow the down into the baffle.

I clean the tiled toilet thoroughly at home and do all my weighing and stuffing in there with a dust mask.

A hoover sat outside ( with tights over the nozzle to stop the down going into the hoover) ready to go catches the stray floaters and cleans me off again.

I weight the down into very weak plastic bags-stuff the bags into the item and then rip the bag apart to release the down. Works well for me.
