Bugs!!

Bugs are everywhere down here in the Bayou. Right now I'm fully equipped with bug protection with the ENO Guardian Bug Net. I have an ENO Doublenest hammock and that gives me a little bit of protection as well. I'm looking for something that is a little less restricting (the bug net just seems to get in the way.) During the summers down here it does get hot, so I won't be curled up in my sleeping bag. So getting in my sleeping bag and wearing a head net is out of the question. Any advice on what would be easier?

I am about to be a smart Aleck and make the statement "Move North and West", we have very few bugs, no gaters, only the rare snake, most of the snakes are harmless except in the airid region.

I would put tightly woven cotton under and over me, a fan to keep the air moving, the netting I would make a do it yourself screen/bug net that attatches onto my double nest. I looked at the ENO Bug solution, however, I had the feeling it would be more of a pain than it was worth to me.

Well I'm from the north, but the military doesn't really let me choose where I get to be stationed (within reason.) Thanks for all the advice guys. I think what I'm going to do is purchase a Hennessy Hammock and keep my ENO as a spare if anyone else joins me. So what I should do about the gear situation is probably get some waterproof bags and then hang up my gear in a tree or off of my suspension. I guess dry bags would kind of work as a stuff sac as well, so two uses in one. Good thing for backpacking

I haven't tried it yet, but it has crossed my mind to put grip clips on the inside of the tarp to tie the bug net out to. Add a small fan hung off your ridge line and things will probably be much more comfortable.

Quite a few of us are using the Skeeta Tent. It's more football shaped and gives you more than enough coverage. Personally I've sown the edges together, cut one end off and put velcro on, and put a horizontal zipper in the side for entry.

Well Nift you just gave me a great idea. My hennessy hammock should be here tomorrow and since the ENO hammock folds up so small I never thought of using it as a gear hammock. Awesome advice!
