Killer JRB set.

So I was browsing the JRB store today, just to give myself more pipe-dreams, when I ran across (what I felt like) was a spectacular deal; a set with the sierra sniveller and the mt washington 3 for 489.95. Now the fact that I am currently flat broke aside, this seems like a great deal. However, I do have a couple questions. I have run into a few threads where people have said their 20-30* gear has kept them cozy well below that, so is it fairly common for TQ's and UQ's rated for 20-30* to be comfortable closer to 0? I do tend to be a warmer sleeper anyways, and I enjoy going places where it does drop below 10* at night. The problem is if I don't want the 4-season gear because it will be far too toasty during the spring and summer months. Thoughts about whether I could get away with just the 3-season set?

I've found JRB quilts to be very true to their ratings. I've had one of their 25-30 degree quilts down to 17 degrees and was cool, but not uncomfortably so. I've had a High Sierra Sniveller and Mt. Washington 4 down to 7 degrees and was toasty warm, but everyone is different. I'd say go with a three season set and supplement it with a foam pad to extend your temperature range when needed.

3 season and get a pad as backup for layering when needed.

That was kind of what I was thinking; supplement it with a pad or throw on one of my down jackets if needed

Just wanted some outside opinions since I've never used JRB stuff before. It seems like every time I buy equipment I tell myself "this is the last I will need. Whatever else comes, at least I have this situation handled". Then I see stuff like that deal

I'll echo the other guys. Supplement with a pad, maybe a silk liner would work as well depending on how cold. I have a JRB Sierra Stealth and have used it with a pad and silk liner right to freezing and been toasty, not just warm. You can't go wrong with the Jacks, their gear is top notch.
