animalcontrol: Forum name has nothing to do with animals! As I said .. a very keen observer and a terrific listener and quick with a timely response as well. Gear Junkie ... lots of cool gear but I loved the KellyKettle. Walks a steady pace ... we had a terrific chat on the trail about life and family and HF members. I love the way he speaks ... sort of an old world cadence and colorful prose. I truly enjoyed being in his company. A true hammock enthusiast!!!!

Stormcrow was a hoot and a riot and I would not put much past him. He is a natural talent on camera and also has a wonderful eye for photography. Check out his pix of the trip.....

what to say about my first hang and hike?? well,at first very intimidated by all the "pros" and awesome gear everyone had, there was alot to learn from everyone, from packing light ( thanks storm crow) to tying diffrent knots (thanks shug) to using figure 9's correctly (thanks animal control). more importantly like it was said earlier how 13 people from all walks of life came together and encouraged each other helped each other and just plain had fun in the piney woods, it was a trip to be proud of in the sense anyone could have brought thier 5yr old or wife and not have to worry about drunkeness or foul mouthed. the way animal control kept checking to see if i was ok was great. got to learn about myself in a way i never did before living outside the box for 4 days. knowing that each and every one of these people had your back if something went wrong or failed. would i do it again?? you bet i would!!!!!! would i recomend anyone of these people?? you bet!!! made 12 friends that will last a lifetime, the vids and pics are great but do no justice to the experience i had. to all a big THANK YOU and FF you couldn't have gotten a better hang put together what a success!!!!! i could go on but it has all been said already.
i do not remember the question, however i believe beer is the answer

    Red face Alternate trip report

I took a hike among the trees
after finding a mushroom where the bigger birds fly.
    A cog inquirer stopped by,
then the circus came to town
with a spark of goofy sunshine in his back pocket.
The AC and his foreign poke was running when the fiery stryder brought his load
The contemplative chant lifted the crazy craft to the heights above the shimmering jewel.
Ursa was not so minor with his gear
as he ambled by with his dusty Card
and the colors weren't exactly evident after dark,
but the chocolate was from the arms of its bearer.
Rock, Ramble and Rolling this motley crew
    chewed fat along the way
when an airborne "highlander" joined the fray
to make the baker happy with his counting.
    Tantric Traipsing through verdant verdigris
    was not enough, never enough
but will suffice until the next one.

    Great peom FF

I loved the food we had, but I coldn't wait to make pasties. I have a hike this weekend and made some extras for my fellow campers. i cannot think of one part that of that hang that wasn't a complete success.
