Our first hike of the season. Beautiful hike! http://www.trails.com/tcatalog_trail...lid=XFA263-029
Only saw two other couples out there on a Monday afternoon. One had a bag of 9 or 10 morels. Some blacks and some peckerheads. Used my emberlit at the lake shelter for a nice hot cup of ginger tea, then headed back to the Taylor Ridge campsite, where there is an abundance of places to hang. I actually discovered a wild turkey right next to the trail sitting on a her eggs. Shortly after that saw a turtle. They were both nicely hidden with their camo, and I would not have seen them if I were not searching for mushrooms. We did not find any shrooms, probably because we were trying to make good time on the trail. Anyway, it's a very nice scenic trail to dayhike, and could be combined with some of the other trails in the park.
