Whats the address of this 501...I may join.

I found a nice campground in the catskills so instead of backpacking may just camp and do day hikes. My hammock should keep me dry

Google directions to the cabelas in hamburg PA then follow this.

Follow 78 west until the Pine Grove exit. (Which is somewhere between exit 13 and 20, I never remember exactly). Off the exit turn right. You'll just follow the road, first farmland, then it turns very wooded and very uphill. Near the top you'll see a parking lot on your right. At the end you come to first there is an AT sign. Park at the other end. There a blue blazed trail that takes you to the shelter. At the shelter turn left and we camp about a hundred feet up the AT.

Happy camping at 501 all !
Have fun hopping on the rocks on the trail. Hiking in and out is rocky (april2013 ).

Bob O is with his family.

My husband and I are still waiting for the rain to stop in the Catskills for some hang time together.
( Of course when you camp in the Catskills you get use to rain. That is one reason why NYC has Catskill Mts water. )

Looking forward to hiking the AT between Port Clinton and Lehigh Gap some time in the future.
40 miles that can be divided into 2,3 or 4 day hikes.
