    Hammock Day????

Well my college has officially been taken over by hammocks for Wednesday February 25! The outdoor club is putting on a hammock day! Sweet... however every day is hammock day in my book. But with this huge gathering, what better the chance I have to bring my whole set up and bring people to the dark side of hammock camping! I'm just glad I've had this support group to turn me into the hammovangelist that I am !

I'm so jealous! I tried to get some friends to do an unofficial hammock day on campus, but no one else was interested.
Hmm... I didn't think about contacting the outdoor club. I'll definitely be doing that next semester!

    Hammock Day

    When: Always on July 22nd.

Summer is in full swing. It's time to slow down and to relax. During the Dog Days of summer (and all of the other summer days, too), there is no better place to slow down and relax, than on a hammock.

Hammock Day is appropriately celebrated right in the middle of the Dog Days of summer (July 3 though August 11th.

Hammock Day exists to enjoy summer as it should be enjoyed. People celebrate Hammock Day by spending as much time relaxing on it as possible. Getting out of your hammock to get a snack, or your favorite summer beverage is okay. But, it is not a day for work. Cutting the lawn is forbidden on this day.

The roots of Hammock Day and Hammock Day history is largely unknown. Maybe the originator was too busy napping on his or her hammock!?!

Well hammock day went great in the way that I got to lay in my Blackbird, but there wasnt as many people as I originally thought, I think because it was kind of chilly out, but I was assured that this was not the last time that a hammock day will happen! I'm looking forward to getting the pictures back so I can post them!

    asimmons4,
Looking forward to the pics! One problem that I run into when contemplating a hammock day on my campus is lack of places to hang. There are a number of good-looking places, but they are scattered all across campus (which might work better for spreading the word). Were you concentrated in a single location or what?

yeah we were in one location... but the way that the word got out was through the outdoor clubs facebook page and they made an event and invited a ton of people. also they put fliers all throughout the campus. But on campus there is a place where you could probably set up 30 hammocks!!!! And that is our goal for the next time!!!
