We've got NoSeeUm back in stock at DIY Gear Supply - but also check out some of the other options too. These companies know outdoor gear pretty well too and I highly recommend them: Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics, Quest Outfitters, Thru-Hiker. I'm sure there are others but those are the big three that come to mind.

Good to know; I've just got a rush job now, so I couldn't afford to wait!

Thru-hiker was able to hook me up this time (it's so nice to have options )

    Alternate source for No-seeum

Wally World sells what is called a Mainstay "Curtain Scarf" in a few sizes and colors.
I bought two of the largest size in black. Sewed them together and made Fronkey's design. Came out perfect. It is not as light as real no-seeum, doesn't ventilate as well, but I was in a hurry. It worked very well.

I wonder if this Sheer Voire Window Panel 55x84" on ebay for $4 is the same material used in this DIY bug net video. $8 is the best price I could find for enough material. I think I'll pick up two tomorrow and give it a try unless someone knows a reason why I shouldn't or of a cheaper source.

The shear curtain material works great and it's cheap to make a net ~$12.
I would not use it if I were going somewhere hot as it does not ventilate very well, but most of my nights are at 50* or less. Like the availability of lighter colors that keep the heat build up down during the day.
+1 on the Fronkey design. Only variation is that you sew the two pieces together lengthwise side by side. The bottom channel is already there - just run the shock cord to make the closure and you're done.

I just finished one of the Sheer Voile versions five minutes ago, it came out at 11.85 oz with heavy elastic and a cord lock. I made one mod and put draw collars into each of the ends as well.

Definitely not as light as my no-see-um mesh but looks pretty strong. Will try it out tomorrow.
    Cheers

I will give it another chance but my first impression is that I prefer an attached net.

The mesh worked fine but there is a lot of it -> bulky
It doesn't breath as well as real no-see-um mesh.
Lastly the opening doesn't close completely and it shifted around a lot, It was hard to get the opening to stay at the bottom and to get a good seal to my body.

These issues can be remedied, I will probably work on it later.

When my son first got in his "fronkey window scarf bug net" he had trouble closing The bottom too. We broke rule #1 of new gear use. Test it out at home before you bring it out on the "trail"......Dumb A
The shock cord seemed "sticky", maybe the channel was too small, but in any case, I replaced the shock cord with 1.7 lash-it. Closes easily now.
I still need to make another bug net for another table cloth hammock I made.
I think I'll try the Bug Sock next https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=21063 with organza from Joann's, seems really light. I would use tulle, but the noseeums might get through. Just chicken I guess
