Spreader Bars for Bridge Hammock

Hey all!

For those of you with bridge hammock... could you shed some light on spreader bars?
Mine bread down into two pieces, but one of the pieces is still to big to fit well into my pack.
And I feel like I could maybe switch them out for something the weighs less.

So what are your thoughts and setups regarding spreader bars?

I place mine in a fitted bag and pack them in an outside pocket and under the compression straps. One compression strap goes through a grosgrain loop on the bag guaranteeing it can't be lost.

I use a ccf pad for insulation, so I just roll my poles into the pad, then I lash it to the top of my pack, a bedroll.

A few months ago a there was a long thread exactly on this subject, you might want to do a search for it....there were a lot of great suggestions.

I cut mine into two smaller pieces and used a coupling to make them whole again.
Check out quest outfitters for all kinds of supplies,including the insert material.
I also used the insert material to beef up the strength of the spreader bars by placing a section of it about 6 inches to each side of the coupling piece,adds a tiny bit of weight, but increases the strength at potential flex points.Good luck.
