    Magna Fabrics

Never heard of Magna Fabrics until today in another thread on HF.
Ordered 200 yards of rip stop nylon from Magna Fabrics this morning at 0530
ACU Digital. It says 40 denier, 1.6 oz/yd. $.59/yd. , Even if it's not exactly
what I'm looking for, but it's still inexpensive and will work for a hammock building project for a bunch of Boy Scouts. $50+/- to ship from NY to LA home delivery. FedEx shipping is always expensive.

    Just got email, already shipped.

I'll post a "review" when it arrives

I ordered the same roll from Magna for a boy scout project a few months ago. Other than random places it's cut, and the fact that it's more like 1.9 oz/yd. it's a very nice fabric. You'll enjoy it.

Great information guys. This is what I was looking to hear. We will hopefully be doing the same thing for our Scouts.

    jbrescue,
Since you're fairly close, you're certainly welcome to come on down to the workshop and see this fabric first hand. Let me know.

A good deal haven't found any bad spots in the 259 yards I bought so far. Same shipping regardless of amount purchased and that roll was heavy.

Do they have a rain fly fabric too? I can't remember if I saw that when I looked last.

Was wondering the same thing. Best I can tell they do not have rain fly or tarp fabric, only DWR. Note they do have a "tarp"(n1) link, but I don't think it can actually be used for a tarp (search these forums for DWR vs. silpoly to learn more).

Nylon Ripstop Fabrics at 75 cents a pound, about 15 cents a yard

70 Denier Nylon Ripstop Fabrics, on individual 10 yard to 20 yard rolls 75 cents a pound (about 15 cents a yard).
These fabrics are durable water repellent and there is no coating on the reverse side, allowing the fabric to be breathable.
Since the fabrics are shipped directly from the factory (with apologies) we do not know the fabric color assortment.
These are sold by the carton only and will be delivered by truck freight.
