    I'm not worthy...

I only started backpacking a year ago - an activity for my oldest son and I to enjoy. So I bought some packs and a tent (sorry!) and went out several times for a night or two. While we loved it for different reasons, we had a great times. Well, I have four sons (the other three are in college) and inevitably one or more will want to go out with us.

So, I started looking at other tents when I stumbled across Hammockforums.net and before I knew it..instead of ordering a larger tent to accommodate the boys I bought myself a hammock...a HAMMOCK!! I've never sat in a hammock my whole life, but I got swept away and ordered a...

Hennessy Explorer Deluxe with Hex tarp (I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs)

And get this, even though I'd never hammocked before (can I use hammock as a verb?), after reading this site religiously for a couple months I sent it to 2QZQ for a Mod 4!!

But of course I was not done, since I had a couple weeks to wait, I went ahead and ordered a Single Line Tarp Ridge Line from WhoopieSlings.com! I set it up in the back yard and hung NOTHING from it.

Who am I and why am I so excited that I just learned my hammcok is on its way to my house?!!?

I might be a fraud, I'm probably an idiot, and I'm definitely a gear hound (have been so close to buying misc items from Dutch even though I don't know what they do). But in the end I have to place blame where it belongs...

all of you!! This site is awesome and the way folks help each other is truly unique. I can only promise I will set that sucker up, give it a whirl, and post some pics.

How else will I know what else to order?

If you get nothing else, you have already received tons of enjoyment. The good news is that it really keeps on getting better. If your sons are on their game, they will take some lessons from your activities.

Welcome to the addiction my friend. By all means, go ahead and buy all of the gear you want. And when you can't use half of it, PM me and I'll buy it off of ya (at a discount of course)

Just kidding (on the buying part...unless...) Glad your enjoying it. It only gets better from here.

That's ok, we're blamed for many a man and woman's hammocking addiction. After all, that's why there is a forum dedicated just for us...and might I add, Thank God there is!!

Welcome to the forum, from Ohio.

Deciding on a hammock over a tent was the best decision I ever made. I'm glad this group helped you make the right choice. In the words of the old night on "Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail" - You Chose, Wisely.
