Gadgets for making ad hoc tarp pull outs?

I've seem a few hacks where people took contact lens holders to make tarp tie outs. Basically one side has your spectra cord and the other side screws in and the tarp lies in between.

Are there any more elegant hacks than this?

One way to improvise this could be to use a pebble and then tie that behind your tarp and then make a slip not so that you can pull the trap without damaging it.

These seem like hacks though..

Grip clips from shelter system inc. are specifically made for this purpose. As well Dutch has a product that fills this niche.

I find the Dutware pull outs to be better than grip clips on silnylon. The grip clips can slip and require some thin rubber like a cut up piece of ballooon between the clips and the silnylon to prevent slipping. The Dutch tarp pull outs have a rubbe O ring in them the keep tham in place and they are designed to hold tighter the more they pull.
