    HH Hex Fly

Take a look at this. http://www.clearwateroutdoor.com/pro...FQbqnAod0mQAIg Not sure how they can sell a "Hex Tarp" at this price. I love find deals but don't want a fellow hanger to get burned by misrepresentation. If this ends up steering buyers I don't mind the mods taking this post down. I would rather the buyers purchase directly from HH.

    $$$

The site seems to be misleading (at least how I am reading it) that his is a HH Hex Tarp. I want to purchase it, don't get me wrong, I am just wondering is it a HH Fly or an aftermarket advertising to fit the HH hammocks. The 20$ savings and free shipping is appealing to me.

I've thought about upgrading my rainfly to one of these. Even if it is an aftermarket knockoff, it's still a pretty good deal. I think I'll be picking one of these up in a couple days.

Close as I can tell from the single photo, that's the same one that I have. The cord pockets look the same and the color is the same, at least...

They sure do, in fact when they first offered them for sale they sold them for $59.00 as well...that's where I got mine!

    It's a super tarp.

Either way, I've got one on the way. $20 cheaper and free shipping? Count me in! The stock fly leaves some wanting in the Okinawa rain.

I think Hennessy had to up his prices to discount to retailers so they could mark the product back up. Given Chinese business methods once they start producing anything anybody else can usually buy it. Anybody with the market and money to order a large enough quantity direct from China can buy Hennessy equivalent product direct from his supplier and sell it as the Hennessy wholesale price while still making a reasonable profit. The danger is that the batch might be one he rejected. Might is operative as in might or might not.

They could also be real Hennessy product because Tom got stuck with a couple thousand extra Hex tarps and offered them to a buddy to sell off to avoid a hassle with the folks who retail Hennessy products.

These are typical problems with any small producer using Asian contract manufacturing where it is a huge order with a long lead time.
    YMMV
