Exclamation 1 Tree Yard - Stand Idea Engineering Question...

So from the title, you know I only have one tree in my backyard.

    Here's the thought/design question.

I have 3 - 7'x1.25"OD solid shafts. They are beastly! Every time I pick one up, it makes me think of Goliath and what a "man-imal" he was.

    Anyways, back at the ranch....

Here are the two options I've thought of: Note: in both cases the pipe(s) in question would have re-bar welded out in multiple directions for extra rigidity.

1.cement a 1'x3" pipe vertically so that the top is approximately at ground level.

2.cement 3 - 1'x1.5" pipes welded together where the cross-sections forms a triangle. In other words the sides would be welded together (parrallel).

In either case, the end result would be the three shafts being dropped into the pipe(s) when I want to hang in the hammock, but when I'm done, I can remove the shafts.

Here's a diagram of sorts that may help explain what the base would look like.

I would just sink a 6x6 post, but I think it would look a bit strange when not in use.

I need some help and suggestions.

Try it! This doesen't seem too expensive to at least try. If it doesn't work, you may have a sore butt and a little concrete to remove.

You can landscape a bit around a 6'x6' post,,and even put a flower pot on top. Besides,,when someone stops by to visit and asks what the post is for,,I tell them hammock hanging,,and then end up displaying a couple,,and the next thing you know,,you have a friend that is a convert.

How deep should a 6x6 post be?
