    PLUQ Yeti Clone

Its that time of year when you don't need a whole lot to keep your back-side toasty. I took my Yeti clone to the Cheaha hang over the weekend and was pleased with its performance. Temps got down to the low 50s at night and I was plenty warm. Top-side was covered with a Hammock Gear 40 degree TQ.

These are easy to make. I knocked another one out yesterday for Abc.

There is actually enough material in one poncho liner to make two UQs. Or, you could make a version that has two layers. One layer could be attached with snaps or Velcro. I'm thinking my next project will be a two-layer version and I'll post pics when I'm done.

Oh yeah, the draft collars are collars taken from JCP Puffer jackets.

Cool! I understand why oyu like that UQ. I have a Climashield "Yeti", before it was called Yeti but seems very close in construction except for CS instead of down and baffles, the original UQ made by WB. It has removable layers of CS, and just one of the 2.5 oz/sq.yd layers is remarkably efficient for at least 50F and I have even pushed it into the 40s one time, which is amazing IMO. Plus, just like with PL, less worry about moisture.

Nice work Grapenut, I am sure ABC will be pleased. I like my poncho liner UQ also, not a Yeti clone, but works well just the same.

    Talking Happy

I am Very happy and excited to try it out. It weighs about 1/4 of what my DIY UQ weighed and it is way better put together and just over all slick and stealth looking thanks so much G-nut

    G-nut,

Looks like you are in the beginning stages of an UQ business...

LOL... I actually get a kick out of helping college aged kids who have a passion for hammocking and a budget that limits their ability to score gear. Happy to help! I definitely won't be going into business doing it, and I have a great deal of respect for the craftsmanship of those that are in the business of doing it.

What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other travel. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.

    What little bit I had!

Worth every penny though. After seeing this thread today I set it up just because. It had me sweating in this North Carolina heat!
