RockStar....sounds like attroll might have a MacCat to spare....

And I stand corrected about never hearing complaints about the MacCat. Up to one now. Troll, is it just the size you don't like or something wrong with the tarp?

By all means, go Deluxe, got mine and love the extra protection. When I ordered my dlux via PayPal, it took Brian several days ( almost a week) to get back with me. Once he did contact me I had my tarp within 3 days.

The size is what I did not like about the standard.

Rockstar. I need to find the MacCat first. I will go look now. I think it is in my hiking box.

OK, Rockstar I found it. Do you think $40 is a good price for it?

    MacCat Deluxe

    Hi Guys,

My first time posting. I was glad to find this site about hammocks. I recently started using a hammock and had a few problems. One was the size of the tarp that came with the HH a-sym ultralite. On the other forums where I posted questions the general concensus was that the rectangular tarp that came with the HH was adequate. I didn't care for it at all. I searched for different tarps and found the MacCat Deluxe. I have yet to spend the night under it, but I did take it out to the forest preserves and set it up. It is wonderfully made and the coverage is by far better. The additional weight is worth every bit if it means staying dry. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in this thought. I was beginning to think I was a whimp. As far as Brian goes, I caught him in between semesters where he had a little time to make tarps. From his profile he sounds like a promising young man who will go places in life. So now I have a lot of threads to read about hammocking, how exciting!

rockstar... if you find yourself concerned at some point that the standard is a little short (& not over-hanging your hammock as much as you'd like) check out the "storage end covers"

i'm working on an improved version that will be somewhat smaller, more streamlined, & more simple.
i'm really liking the storage & end protection. they are whipped to the hammock support so that takes care of the running water problem too. ...tim
