First timer in El Dorado County, CA

First hike and hang will be next weekend. Went over set up a bunch of times and I'm ready to give it a whirl. Early reports from my backyard are looking good!

Lots of great information here. Looking forward to lurking around the forum for awhile

Thank you sir! After being a backpacker for the last few years I've found the cowboy camping or tent camping to be the major complaint of long trips. Hoping the hammock will be my next best friend!

At this point the wife has to be getting tired of me "practicing" my set ups in the backyard so we are both anxious for me to get out of town this weekend.

Welcome from the Bay Area. Nice country you got up there. Have fun on your first wilderness hang.

This was about a month ago now but the hang turned out great. It was cold, down into the upper 20's and a strong wind to go with it. Once huddled inside though I was toasty warm and very comfortable.

This is Showers Lake on the Tahoe Rim Trail around 8500 feet in elevation.
