For mild weather, say 60+ degrees, can you just take a poncho liner or Kifaru Woobie and insert it between the two bottom layers, or do you have to go UQ?

If you want to go light and inexpensive then go with a ccf pad - the PL and Kifaru Woobie would tend not to work as well because you'll compress the insulation and windup with very minimal insulation. Evazote pads work great too. The only thing you might run into is a cold shoulder with the pad in which case making an SPE - you can find info on the forums - might be a good solution. I have tried using a pad in my single layer hammocks but I am an energetic sleeper and I was never happy with results so an SPE didn't work for me but YMMV. If you do decide on an underquilt WildernessLogics makes a nice summer series in a 3/4 and full length that is priced really well and te-wa underquilts makes a torso length called the breeze which weighs in at just over 10oz and runs $135.
Life is short and then it's forever..
I think for anything over 60*, you could make the woobie work...you could probably get by with just a sleeping bag.
You're never lost if you don't care where you are.
