    New from Maryland

Hello everyone. Finally decided to join. I have read this forum while doing my research on hammock camping and want to thank everyone. I went this past weekend for a 15 mile hike and used the Warbonnet Blackbird for the first time. I only slept one night but I did in fact sleep. Worlds apart from rolling off the pad onto the hard ground. I slept so well I didn't wake up until 9:30 in the morning. Zero back or neck pain. I have never slept more than a few hours in a tent without waking up. So again thank you all.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find everything you need to know around here. I think I would have to agree with you on the sleep. Even a bad night in a hammock beats a good night on the ground. What I would give to be back in those Maryland woods.

Plenty of MD, WVA, VA and PA'ers around here.
Glad you found your hammock bliss.
The WBBB is a great first choice, what hammock are you going to get next.
You do know that no one can stop at just one, don't you?
    Enjoy

Welcome - very new as well (NVA) and while not sure how soon I will be buying a second hammock as JWright suggests, but sure am spending on plenty of other hammock gear! Truly addictive.

Thank you for the warm welcomes. About six months ago I started purchasing new items (pack, sleeping bags, jetboil, etc..) so I could get my weight down to 15-20 lbs in the summer for weekend trips and 25-35lbs for winter. Four months ago we found out that my fiancé is pregnant and due at the end of September. I'm super comfortable with my gear so there's only a few small things on my wish list. I won't be heading out for any extended trips in the near future. I am actually looking at getting a double hammock. We go out after I get off work and on the weekends for small day hikes. Sometimes we just take a blanket but in her current condition I think that throwing a double hammock in my daypack will be a great addition.

Glad you found us. Welcome to the forum and here's to enjoying life above ground.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

    Hey from Toronto, Canada.

I spent a few summers in Catonsville when I was a lad. Used to love going down to the Fisherman's market and seeing Mr. Ed, the amazing old oyster shucker with stubby little fingers that could tear a phonebook in half.

Good times.. Welcome to the forums.

Well that didn't take long. I took advantage of campsaver's Memorial Day 20% off. Grand Trunk Double is on the way.

    Welcome from Florida!
I see that you have discovered the fact that an alarm clock is required when sleeping in a hammock. (As opposed to waking up at 3:00 a.m. and waiting in agony for the sunrise)!
