    Head support in hammocks.

    Hi everyone,

I have been reading HF for about 2 years now and I constantly see people complaining about foot/leg problems, which I tend not to have problem with, but I have never seen anyone talk about neck support. I can find a nice spot for my feet and my legs are fine, but my head/neck tend not to have much support or a big ridge right across the neck. Do any of you have suggestions for the head side of the hammock. Such a thing as a head box? Just need support holding the head and providing comfort. Thanks guys.

    Ghillieshot.

    Head support in hammocks.

I stuff my extra clothes in a stuff sack and use it as a pillow. I don't need much but that little bit is just right.

Many pillows available. Some are inflatable, and pack down to nothing. The best ones are covered on one side or both sides with fleece or some other fabric that won't stick to your face. The most comfortable IMO are filled with down or some other insulation, but they don't pack down as small. I got one of those crescent shaped pillows that snaps around your neck in the airport, and use it when weight/space are not an issue. Try REI or one of the many other camping/hammock gear web sites.

I use an Obusforme travel pillow, it works great in the hammock. http://www.obusforme.com/sleep/trave...el-pillow.html
it's a little big for backpacking, but I always make room for it in my kayak.

    Head support in hammocks.

I use ZPacks clothing bag/pillow combo. It's incredibly soft on your face at night and holds all my clothing for multi-day trips.

I'm using it on my AT thru currently.

    I use these pillows.
They're filled with synthetic fill so they maintain more loft when in use and they pack nicely.
    I have 1 for each of my 3 hammocks and I like'm a lot.

I stuff clothes in to a t-shirt while camping and use memory foam at home.

I have a small stuffed Fozzy Bear my daughter bought me. Makes a decent roll under my neck.

I sewed up my own out of 1.9 RSN and stuffed it with synthetic fill similar to the ones Flatline referenced. Very comfortable.
