Stuff / Fold / Roll tarp?

I have a Kelty's Noah 9 and the stuff sack it came with is a little large for it and I was thinking about making my own... But my first question is what is the best way to store it?

Do I fold it or roll it or stuff it randomly?

The Kelty's Noah tarps are 75 Denier Polyester if that makes a difference.

I've been stuffing my Noah's12 in the stuff sack with no problems so far. Just cram that sucker in and cinch down the top.

Sounds like I wont have an issue...

Have either of you needed to "seal" the tarp at all? I have been lucky enough not to stuck in any 'real' weather yet and not sure if the tarp is going to leak on me or not.

I have not seam sealed mine and have been in several good storms so far with no problems. Several folks here on the forums have reported leaks with theirs. YMMV

in DAYS OF OLD when we ordered a new set of sails, the sailmaker told us to stuff them, rather than folding them

he told us folding has a tendency to create creases that end up weakening the fabric, at the point of the fold

i'm still torn between folding & stuffing

My tarp is put in a snake skin so I guess its stuffed into a roll... then its stuffed into a sack. So mine would be double stuffed I guess.

Snakeskins. Then stuffed loose into the outside pocket on my pack.

+1 If the Skins go into one of Mountaingoat's custom mesh pockets.

+2 If the Skins are Mountaingoat too!
