    switching the suspension on HH

Ok so I am tired of how long the set up time takes with the standard suspension. When setting up i eye ball the hammock, tie up one end, tie up the other end, see how even they are, then untie both end and adjust the hammock so that each end is evenly spaced from both trees. Repeat if needed. There has got to be an easier way. Is there a way to modify my HH to switch out the suspension? If so, which suspension should i switch to? Thanks in advance for the help.

I have often thought if I could do better on the tree straps..
There was an Old Man with a owl,
    Who continued to bother and howl;
He sat on a rail, And imbibed bitter ale,
Which refreshed that Old Man and his owl

I've seen some guides on YouTube that show how to switch it to whoopie slings.

Why not give the climbing ring/carabiner method a shot?

I think the guy who made that video posts here so I'm sure he'll chime in at some point.

I'm partial to the descender rings/webbing setup myself. Converted my clark to it last year and found it to be fantastic, easy to adjust in both directions and less finicky then dealing with tree straps. Converted my son's HH Scout to the rings just a couple weeks ago too.

clove hitch a pair of descender rings to each rope just after the tarp prussic. Use a pair of 1 in Harbor Freight straps modified by cutting off the buckle and sewing or tieing in in a loop. You can thread the loop or use a biner or Dutch clip to start. Garda Hitch works. If you do not like that try whoopees to the rings. If you don't like that ...

When you get settled on something you like you can shorten or replace cords without screwing yourself. Assuming you ever get around to it.
    YMMV

i have created a modified WHOOPIE suspension system for my SAFARI DELUXE, allowing me to remove the WHOOPIES when they get wet

this way, i don't have to pack wet suspension w/ the hammock

i use 2 biners on each tree strap, hooking my WHOOPIES to biners

    goto:

and view reply #3 for pics of the hammock mod

& the attached pic for the mod in service, w/ my snake skin conveniently scrunched up between the hammock & ring, which also acts as a keeper for the skins

i'm just finishing up a set of rings & a continuous ridge line for my fly, which will make adjusting the fly position a breeze

this is onl 1 of many options available to your situation

i feel sure there will be many more ideas, coming to this thread soon

hope this helps, in your quest

I used whoopies on my hennessy, with the tree straps. I just use a trekking pole as a toggle. No muss, no fuss.

If you decide on whoopies, they need a longer tail to make the extra wraps around the hammock material. I have a set of unused HH spec 6ft black whoopies you can have for the price of shipping. I ordered them for mine but sold it before I made the switch...Bush
