Noobie in Nashville

Hello all - My son finally made me buy my own hammock today after borrowing his ENO SN for a while. I figured the DN on sale at REI will hold me over till I can work my way up to a Blackbird or Thunderbird. We camp around Middle Tennessee on our own and with the Scout Troop. As a youth (years ago) we actually hammock-camped portions the PCT in WA state in an old net-hammock, so this has been somewhat of a homecoming for me now that my son is in scouts and hanging. I'm looking forward to learning from all of you, and hope to hit a Middle TN hang one day.

Yes, the four annual hangs that Neo organizes in middle Tennessee would be a great way to see other hammocks, suspensions, quilts, rainflies, and etc.

Also, if you're into backpacking, the Nashville Backpacker group on www.meetup.com is a good way to have one or more monthly outings to choose from. Every thing from easy and local to strenuous and out-of-state.

Thanks - a kayak (and canoe) I have. The rivers of TN are nice, but I'm used to open water - I grew up in the Puget Sound region and did most of our kayaking/canoeing/sailing in the Sound. I haven't checked - is the Bear Island hang info listed on the forum?
