Opinions wanted PLEASE UQ & TQ

OK I've read until as much as I can over the last 2 weeks, compared products, weight and value for dollars. I have my quilts down to 2 choices.

Warbonnet - Yeti and Black Mamba Long/wide, Pros: Quailty, Price, Weight. Cons: Not sure if I can stand the mummy shape in the toe box area? Sleeping in a rectangular bag now for that reason.

HG - Incubator 20 Degree, and Burrow 40 Degree Wide with Half Taper and emphysys on wider foot box. Pros: customizable, quality, price, weight.

I'm leaning towards the HG products for the reason, I have spoken with them and they will work with me on the toe box width. I cant stand a mummy bag, Like I said I sleep in a rectangular bag now, MH 35/50 flip, happy in that, it's advertised 78" long but seems to measure about 75" inside length, toe box seems to be about 40" circumference.

Would like to hear from anyone who has experience with either quilts. I'm hanging in Indiana with temps ranging from 35 to 90 degrees with lots of humidity (usually) will be hanging more in temp range 38 to 75 degrees. Would like to know if I go with the HG should I go 20 degrees or 40 UQ? Also Does Burrow wide have a roomy toe box? I am 6'1" 230 lbs.

Any advice would be awesome, I have done my homework, not just being lazy.

I'll sing the praises high and loud for HG. Can't miss with a group of people who will teach you and work with you all the way and still make you feel like you are their only customer.

I'd go 20* based on where you're at. I love mine.

From what I've read, you can't go wrong with any of the vendors on here, for customization though, HG seem like the best option of the two you are considering.

If it's really humid in your area, have you considered the water resistant down offered by some vendors?

I think temp wise, if you wont be out in temps below 35f you could get an ounce or two of overstuff in a 40f quilt and you will be fine if you aren't a cold sleeper.

Thats what I was kinda thining about the temp

That's what I was thinking on the temp, just get the 40 with like 3 oz of overfill, should put it at 30 degrees right? I'm not a cold sleeper..

Im sure HG would make you a custom 30f quilt if that's what you are after.

Remember it is the loft of the down in the quilt that creates warmth and not the weight of the down.

Speak to HG and see what they suggest, lets face it they know more about their products than anyone else.

Keep us posted on what you decide, and when they come, we all love pics

The mummy shape of a TQ footbox is to help keep the TQ in place. I do not like mummy bags due to the constriction in the chest area but have no problem with a TQ as it opens up so it is not confining like a mummy bag.

Hard to go wrong with a TQs or UQs from any of the vendors on the forum. Just need to order the size that is right for you.

Also +1 to what Gunner said.

Regarding a mummy bag as a TQ, though - I used one for the longest time, and all I did was leave it open and use it like any other TQ. If you're handy at all you can cut the hood off (if you so desire) and remove the zipper, but I never bothered.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.

Both vendors you listed are top-shelf. I use the Warbonnet stuff, but have yet to find a thing wrong with anything I've seen from HG. It's always nice when there is no wrong answer.

I'd vote for the HG burrow due to the fact that its customisable. Ive seen first hand a burrow with a wide foot box and their nice. But like Cannaible said their really is no wrong answer.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
