    Hi and Thanks a Ton

Seems like there are countless forums for just about any pursuit. I guess it's a lot like high school with all of the cliques. I've had accounts on plenty of forums, and I've never once formally introduced myself. With HF I actually feel obligated to. I've never in the history of the Internet found such a helpful group of netizens. I've been poring over posts for weeks now and I haven't seen a single snarky comment made with ill intent. There's absolutely nothing "cliquey" about HF.

Anyhow, on with the introduction. I'm Dave from the Raleigh, NC area. A drinking buddy turned me on to the site (thx 4WLO). I did a lot of backpacking when I was younger, but now I mostly moto-camp in parks while out touring. I'm still a ground sleeper, but I've just recently bought my first hammock (HH Backpacker). I've got a new suspension setup coming from Dutch soon. I plan to give that a whirl for a while using a pad and sleeping bag for a while to figure out if A) I take to it and B) what I need to add next. I kind of think it's going to be a fly. I was rained on constantly up in Shenandoah this past weekend and the only thought going through my head was how nice it would be sitting in a hammock under a large fly and drinking those ice cold beverages. Instead, I drank them in the rain.

Having said all that, I now invite everyone to make a snarky comment. Seriously though, thanks a ton to all of the helpful posters, DIYers, and sponsors.

Welcome from PA. If you want to be really impressed, make it to one of the large group hangs. I highly recommend MAHHA, although I have only been to the last one in the spring, I was made to feel like I'd been a friend for years.
