What do you do with your pack?

So the last trip I had I when I got to my site I just strapped my pack to the tree at "working height" (ie about 36"-42" above the ground) and then proceeded to set up camp keeping everything up off the ground in the pack. After that trip I was thinking I might want to figure out a quick way to do that and wondered what you guys do...

I am a _______ type of hammock camper

    a. leave it on the ground
    b. spoil it and give it its own hammock
    c. Strap it to a tree
    d. Super UL and don't use a back pack
    e. What this forum is about hammocks

    C. A few feet of 550 cord doesn't weigh all that much

A quick paracord loop around a tree and then hooked on with a mini Karabiner, if it's slightly moist I'll use my pack cover too.

If it's heavy rain I'll chuck it under my hammock, again with the cover on and a small piece of mat underneath.

My hammock camping is off the beaten track so the places I camp aren't well trodden and compacted, and heavy rainfall soaks away rather than pooling under my tarp.

A, unless I'm afraid there will be a ton of rain and rivers might appear on the ground under my hammock

    c. I have a hank of paracord with a loop on each end & a small S-biner for strapping to a tree.

A & C - If it's raining I wrap my pack in my poncho and stow it under the hammock. If it's going to be a nice night it hangs from a tree strap on the tree. If I'm car camping and the car is close enough, it sits in the passenger seat.

I like having mine on the ground on a small piece of plastic....then I spread the stuff out accordingly.

C for sure! If it rains I will lay it on my tyvek groundcloth. I keep a length of amsteel with a locked brummel on one end and the standing end has a finish splice. A continuous loop is prussiced on. As soon as I find my trees I throw this around the tree, adjust my prussic and clip on my pack. Doctari came up with this configuration and calls it a "pack leash".
