    The One Tree Hang

I'm going to be in a campsite this weekend with only one tree in it. (Only site available). Has anyone ever attached their suspension to a pickup truck and a tree?

I've attached to the roll cage on my Jeep a few times. But never onto a truck. Never seen a railing system that could handle that kind of force/weight. I'm sure there is something out there but if so I'm not familiar with it.
Leave me alone, I'm only talking to my dog today.

I may be outnumbered, but never outmanned.

    The One Tree Hang

I mounted a 3/8 ths eye hook to my bed rail. It's only about 4.5 feet high but I think it might work. Ill take pics this weekend if it works. I hope the little Toyota Tacoma is up to the task. Thanks for the suggestions.

i haven't done this but I think you can attach your suspension to something solid on the underbody of your truck and then run the suspension up and over the truck to your hammock. This way you have a solid attachment point and the lateral forces are distributed along the bodywork panelling. I don't think it would be an issue but if you were nervous about your bodywork you could put a board or something between suspension and body panel to distribute the load more. If you needed the height you could run it over the cab roof.

As I say I haven't done this so it isn't a proven method but I think it will work.

Clever. I'll have to file that away in case I ever need to do it in the future.

Lash up a tripod out of suitable strong material, anchor it to the ground and use that as your second attachment point. Sort of like half a TurtleDog/TurtleLady hammock stand.

    Cheers
