    Jcp tq

Finally got around to finishing my JC Penny top quilt. I used two 3xL down puffer jackets (form that crazy sale they were running last winter) which were completely taken apart. Most of the panels' shapes were modified in one way or another. I had one set of sleeves leftover and a few scarps unused. Not the prettiest thing in the world... being so sewn through by me and the manufacture, but should be toasty enough for Ohio's late spring, summer, & early fall weather. Taking her out this weekend along with my JCP UQ for a two night field test. Temperatures should settle in the mid 40's at night.

I still love seeing all the projects that have come from that jacket sale.

What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other travel. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.

What a wonderful extended weekend to remember the sacrifices others have made for us. I hope everyone was able to spend it with love ones... life is good!

Thanks for all the kind words about the TQ.

I was comfortable around 50* with just shorts and a t-shirt. Early morning drop in temp was noticeable but a fleece across the chest was enough. With layering (fleece tops/bottoms, long underwear, balaclava, down socks, & wool cap) I'm betting I could take this down another 20*.
