I guess I never posted the pic of the foot end - it was around the bathroom door, rigged the same as the door between the rooms. I used the hanging kit from my Travel Hammock (now Grand Trunk) for the suspension (just two knotted cords, basically, for those who have never seen their kit.)

Try threading your suspension line thru a short piece of pvc or a pvc union. Place pvc between door and door jam. (Close door and LOCK!) We use this technique for surgical tubing exercise bands, works great. Make sure door is locked (also makes a dangerous projectile when door is opened with tension on tubing!)

Kind of the same principle as the workout band mentioned in the earlier post, but much cheaper.

damngoat - that's an excellent approach. I think something similar could easily be home made. Would probably draw less attention from the hotel staff then a line running across the width of the door.

The two words hotel hammockers don't want to hear..."house keeping". Thud!

LOL. "Do Not Disburb" sign comes in handy, once again.

Yeah, the real trick though is finding a room with two doors the correct distance apart. I've tried in the past - It took me 6 hotels to find one. I tried it the night before in Minneapolis, and tried going around a bed frame on one end. The bed just slid across the floor when I laid down. So I tied the bed frame to the desk. The desk and the bed slid. I tried wrapping around the mattress/entire bed - same thing. I didn't want to break anything, so I gave up (after looking for something more sturdy to tie to.)

Most hotel rooms have the entry door to the adjoining room and the bathroom right across from each other, and not far enough to hang. And there usually isn't anything in the window area to attach to, that I would trust with my weight. Maybe the dresser/nightstand that the TV is on/in, but do you want to explain to the hotel why the TV is in pieces on your floor?

I always carry a hammock, in case the right situation arises. The moon and sun and stars all aligned on this particular night.

FF, you are hilarious! I can see you all by yourself, in your hotel room, trying all those configurations, only to end up with rearranged furniture! Wish we had a video!

I've started carrying a hammock on business trips myself, in support of the science.

So I'm at a wedding in Decatur, Illinois this past weekend, and got put up in a Homewood Suites. Perfect configuration of doors for hanging! I started pulling my hammock out of the trunk of my car, and my wife said "what the *bleep* are you going to do with that *bleeping* hammock! You are at a Hilton!

Reality check - it isn't good to propose sleeping in a hammock when you are at a wedding with your wife, and you are paying over $130/night for the room. My wife thinks I'm insane now. I'm also not sure on how the night would have gone, swaying in my hammock after carousing with a bottle of Patron and champagne, so maybe she did me a favor.
