The process is the same for buckles or rings. Basically one ring is used to clamp against the other clamping the webbing (not rope) in place between them. It's easy and fast to adjust. Rings though also need a slipped half hitch to lock them in place so the webbing does not slip under load. Some buckles need that as well....but not the ones I use in the video demo.
