    Clarks new hammock

thought I would post this for those who are not involved with the Clark hammock yahoo forum the is the New hammock model out

    Hi folks,

We thought you'd like to be among the first to know that we are
putting the finishing touches on our new solo model with flexible
poles to make optimum use of the hammock width. We are currently
referring to this prototype as the NX-250.

The hammock is the same dimensions as the NX-200 model, but
certainly feels more spacious with the help of the poles. The poles
also eliminate any need for additional ropes to hold up the netting.
The complete packing weight of the NX-250 hammock with poles will be
approximately 3 lbs. 10 oz (5 oz. more than the NX-200 model). The
rain fly, which will be deployed independently above of the hammock,
will have a catenary-curved style like the tarp that comes with the
VERTEX model. The NX-250 will initially sell for about $419.00. We
will offer these for pre-order by phone on Monday, March 2, 2009.
They will be available for pre-order at junglehammock. com by Monday,
March 16, 2009. It could take up to 2 months to receive the hammock
    after the date of order.

Also, for your information, we will finally be selling our new
accessory ridgeline storage pocket on our website within the next
week or so. We're calling the accessory the MATA storage pocket as a
tribute to our friend Linda who first brought it to our attention.

Thanks for all the insights that you all offer which help us continue
    to improve.

    Spencer

I have never seen a Clark 'live'...
Based on the pricing, they seem to be the Ferrari's of the hammock world

Man, they are just going nuts on the pricing. It's an NX-200 with some extra loops. I can't wait to see what the breath-taking price will be in camo!

Very cool that they are giving mataharihiker props!

So, the primary reason for this model is to provide more space in the hammock. Is that right? Looks like Clark is amping-up with two new models (three if you count the Vertex twice ) this year. I'm tellin you guys/gals, hammocks are going to rule the world!

Very cool, indeed. I was just giving her a thought this morning when thinking about our planned Northern hang. She would have been one of the first in.

What else would you expect with a bunch of gear-addicted maniacs like our group behind them?

Looks nice. Pricey, but nice. It looks from the picture that it would still benefit from the net lines. The poles hole up the netting, but it looks like they'd do an even better job if pulled the way the other Clarks do. I know Clark wouldn't do anything this bad.... but it gives me flashbacks to my Lawson. Great, now I'll have nightmares. Forget bears and zombies, I can deal with those. Another night in my old Lawson, now that scares me silly.

I'm beginning to think the Clark people are crazy. What about that hammock is 400 bucks? Surely not the R&D if its basically the same as the NX-200 which was basically the same as the North America hammock. For 400 bucks give me a JRB BMB or Warbonnett BB with a JRB quilt! One of these days when I go home (UTAH) to visit I hope to stop by the clark store to check these hammocks out. I love the idea and look of their product but hate the price they advertise.

I just really don't understand the prices. I'm simply amazed. I'm happy there are new and fantastic products (no disputing that), but I'm at a real loss to explain how people are going to afford $400.00+ hammocks in this economy <shrug>.

Oh well, best of luck with this new hammock. Very nice.
