    Hiker Lite...

Well I've been looking to upgrade my hammock situation, and I think I've be decided on a bias. After browsing the forums, I've come to realize that nobody ever talks about the hiker lite. I mean a 9oz hammock for $35 has to be a good deal, right? Or, is there a reason it's so cheap?

Anybody have one care to review it for me? Or at least explain why it seems nobody on the forum has one?

I have an 11' DL Hiker Lite and love it. Quality is top notch and it is very comfortable. I highly recommend this hammock, especially if it is an upgrade to an EMO SN.

It's a darned good value. If I didn't have a BIAS Weight Weenie Micro single and DL, I'd be tempted!

    niche user group

BIAS attracts users that are focused on hammock weight, and the Hikerlight (HL) is 3rd on that list for BIAS products.

I recently bought a HL to use as an indoor/outdoor hammock at home. Both the price and the lack of stretch is attractive to me, having spent many nights in a polyester GT UL. The HL will be far superior in comfort to the GT UL.

I don't have the hammock, but my bugnet is from BIAS and it's top notch, buginator. Saved my butt big time this weekend. Wouldn't buy any other.

The hiker was a late addition to the line (less press on it because it hasn't been out as long). Also, it's sort of one of our middle of the line hammocks. It's light, not impressively so. As heyyou says, it's third on our weight list. It's comfortable, but its width falls in the middle of our line, too.

I hang in a Hiker Lite DL in shoulder season and find it has the right mix of durability, comfort and packability for me. Of course, YMMV, so... My assessment is that if you're in the 200-275 weight range and want a hammock that doesn't weigh a lot, but that will hold your weight, this is a very good value. Also great for first timers, testers, loaners, spouses, kids, etc. And if you have a color snob in the family, lots of choices.

I only weight about 145 (I vary about 5lbs day to day) so if I do choose the HL ill go single layer for a lighter, more compact option. I'm not a gram weenie so 9oz is fine for me.

    Thanks for the help guys.
