Smile Hammock gear Cuben fiber winter palace

    Hey folks,
I just recently acquired a winter palace Cuben fiber tarp from hammock gear and can't wait to get out and put it to use. Since this is my first piece of cuben fiber gear except for some stuff sacks, I was looking for any tips or advice on the care, set up and storage of the tarp. This is an expensive piece of equipment and I want to be sure I care for it properly. Thanks for any help you can provide.

First off, Congrats on what has become my favorite piece of gear. I fold, stuff and cram mine, all depends on the situation. I fold it once I get home to store it. I am not telling you to abuse your tarp by no means but I dont think it has to be something to be afraid of either. It is Tough Stuff. Mine held against some high winds upwards of 50 mph and rubbed against a pine tree in one spot I believe through out the night and no problems. This is just my 2 cents

I'm wondering the same thing. Even DIY is expensive with this material! Yikes!

But I can tell it will be really nice.

Skins will probably weigh more than the tarp. I just roll mine up, tie it in three places with some Zing-It, then roll it lengthwise and stuff it in the sack. If it didn't get wet, that's where it stays till the next trip. Otherwise, I dry it out at home, then roll it up for storage.

I got a set of custom cuben skins ... only an ounce for the two of them.
