I use the poles from my Clark NX270 when I don't need the cover or bug net. They work good so I'm going to order Clark's replacement poles.
My tarp stick mod.. it works, and it's weight is 0. I actually ordered some tent poles, i just wanted to try the stick mod for backup. 20170105_092736(0).jpg20170105_092752_001.jpg

That stick mod looks great. Might have to give that a shot before purchasing poles as well.

That's great!! I'm certainly not sour over $15 for the pole kit from warbonnet (on sale), but 0 weight is attractive. Now will I be motivated enough to find the right sticks and "make" these each time? Maybe, leaning towards likely. It will also be nice not carrying the poles...I have issues with carrying crap on the outside of my pack.
Eh, tried the clark poles and didn't like how it worked. Thought it was too flimsy..

Wilder, maybe the issue is not the poles. I bet you would get better results if you used 5 to 6 inch Zing-it dog bones. I think there is too much give with the shock cord, and it isn't necessary since the tensioning is taken care of by the poles. Just a thought.

Yeah you called it. I basically did what you suggested although i used s biners. Now i switched it to the inner pole mod. Sewed some pockets on the inside of each tie out, tied some line from the pole to the tarp split ring to prevent from flopping towards the center.
