I spray: Shirts, Pants, Tops of socks, top side of my hats. Hammock: bugnet, and ends not covered by UQ (outside only).

I see no reason to waste the stuff, or over use it.

I prefer to spray not soak. Shirts, shorts, outer parts of my jacket. Bugnet, bottom of the hammoc, any straps/cords used to hang various gear and the outside of my bags.
As a side note, also used it last year to get rid of a nasty flea problem in my apt. I sprayed everything when kitty left for the night. By morning, everything was dry. I'm thinking of a preemptive strike this year.

I let em soak in the bag for about 2 hours and then hang to dry outside.

I just bought some spray and was wondering the same thing. I think I will just start with shoes and outer clothing.

I just used up a 24 oz bottle of the sawyer spray bottle version on 3 t-shirts, 1 hiking pant, 1 flannel shirt, 50L backpack, pair of boots, 2 pairs of wool socks, 1 buff, my monarch camp chair, and my hammock. sprayed all articles on my hung hammock and rotated and sprayed again.

They said 3 oz per article and I tried to stretch it a bit further than that

Does permethrin work on cuben?? It seems to me that it might damage my cuben pack. The petroleum base seems sort of like a solvent so I don't want spray that pack. I also have a Granite Gear Crown 60, will it work on that nylon?

I just finished spraying all my clothes and my hammocks exteriors.

    To what end?

Why treat something that is never really in contact with your body? I'm personally convinced that treated gear gives off a scent that the bugs know is bad-news for them. Once the hammock and quilts are under the tarp, I don't ever remember having bug issues under the tarp.

To me, it would just be spending extra money for little or no benefit and risking a very expensive (CF) tarp.

I agree with Cannibal. It wouldn't do any good to treat any tarp with Permethrin whether it be cuben or sil. It'll just bead up and run off. Permethrin needs to soak in and bond to the fabric to be of any use.

That's what I was thinking. Even if the petroleum base doesn't damage the CF, it would not stay on. Sometimes you just need to confirm your own thoughts...
