I've been using my Tadpole almost 3 years w/o sealing. Mine is dry as a bone.

I have been using my WL Big daddy tarp for about 3 years now, when i bought mine it came with a free tube of mcnett seam sealer so i sealed it up. on one of my last trips it poured real hard, lightning wind the works. i started to get a drip in the center of the tarp. i threw my rain jacket over my ridgeline that seemed to work and i went back to sleep. so all in all i think its time to seal it up again.

my cousin bought his BD tarp a few months after i did, i did notice some small differences and his did not come with the sealer. so im not sure if they changed up the construction of the seam or not. but that is my experience ymmv.

I use a continuous ridge line, which helps to reduce the stress along the tarps sewn ridge line.

I use dutch stingers so that may be the reason for the small leak, but i like my stingers too much to give them up so i think ill just reseal it. i still have a bunch when they were still selling the tarps with it and its still good. great tarps though very happy with mine!

When I received my WL Big Daddy I set it up for a week outside. Had bad rain and it did not leak.

yea i have read so many different reports saying the same thing, but like i said mine was just a bit different than my cousins, the pullouts had noticeable change and his didnt come with the seam sealer. so im not sure if marty changed the way they sewed the seam or not, or if its just because i dont use a continuous ridgeline.

ps. im not trying to bad talk any of wilderness logics tarps, i always recomend them and i own several different products made by them and they are top notch. just sharing my experiences.

Hmmm all good things to think on, I'll have to test it out extensively and see

Oh I understand, my Big Daddy is in the process of getting doors put on. Once I receive it back it will be tested more.
