Considerable elevation change (~2200'), around 16 miles out and back, few water stops. I would want to be back by 3pm. I'm thinking a 8am or 9am start time. I'm thinking I'll timelapse the whole thing with the GoPro. Want to join me?

~6 hours to cover that distance? I think I've got that in me, even with the elevation change, if I'm fastpacking with my water, food, and e-kit. Portions of it'll be faster, portions of it'll be slower. But I'm pretty sure that I've got that.

Going to need to add a lot of hill repeats to my workout between now and then, though...go up the hill, go down the hill, love the hill...

Were you thinking of doing this on Saturday or Sunday?

I was thinking of Saturday... to build up an appetite for the big meal. Normally I can run 9 miles on a hilly trail in ~1.5hrs, but to almost double that might be pushing it so I wanted to give extra time. I'd really like to be back before the main heat of the day comes on around 1pm, but that depends on the weather and how we both do.

Anyone else want in on the run?

I'd love to join you guys. But if my son comes I'll probably not be able to leave him for that long.

I know I'm good for ~9 miles of relatively flat trail in ~1.3 hours, but I don't have much of a meterstick for really hilly trail over that distance. My usual half-marathon time runs just under two hours, but my pace drops sharply after that (15 miles took me ~2:30). So, six hours should be plenty, if I push pretty hard, even in that terrain.

    Looking forward to it!

    All dogs are always puppies.

Jess is a sweet girl, even if I do say so myself. She loves people and other dogs. Most especially, Jess has been great with our elderly dog of fourteen years.

With any luck, this will be a good experience for her. We've done several successful backyard camping trips.

Yes they are. I called my dog 'puppy' for 19+ years. She seemed to like it

I'd be happy to have you along.

How old is your son? would he not want to join us? Would a shorter run suit him better?

Sorry to say I won't be able to make it this year.
My wife has to have surgery (2 lvl fusion in her neck). I hate that I want be able to make it but she needs to have it done and sooner is better than later.

Hope everyone has a good time and I'll see ya at the next hang.
