New hanger in our Nation's Capitol

I'm Ted, and I am planning on getting into hammock camping this summer in the DC/MD/VA area.

I have had an ENO DN for a few years, and always enjoyed the occasional short hang here and there. But never thought about hammock camping.

I was planning on purchasing a tent and other gear when I was struck by the light. I realized that instead of buying all of this new gear, why not just use what I already have!!

I've been watching YouTube videos on various gear review/trip reports/how-tos. I'd say Shug's videos are my favorite so far.

I'll be looking for other locals to meet up with for some hangs. I'm also planning on doing some Bicycle-camping since I enjoy riding my bike so much. All leading up to doing some touring.

Let me know if you live in the area, and can show a new hanger the ropes. Or straps rather.

Welcome from Nebraska. Great you could make it. You will love it and never sleep in a tent on the ground again.

Greetings from the Jersey Shore. Group hangs are a great way to check out gear and learn the ropes.

There's the Fall MAHHA coming up:

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ght=fall+mahha

And then there's a Spring MAHHA too, usually at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, and the NJ Winter Hang in the Pine Barrens.

Check out the Hangouts, Campouts and Trip Planning forum for events near you.

    Hey Ted,

HappyCamper mentioned the Harpers Ferry Outdoor Festival to me a few weeks ago. I'm not sure if I'll make it or not but that would be a good place meet up with some folks.

New hanger in our Nation's Capitol

Welcome from Florida. Wow, I just had this thought about a tree strap long enough to go around the Washington Monument. Now that would be an awesome hang!

It could connect with the columns of the Lincoln Memorial! Think about the sag.
