    The ERL Attempt

Well... Brute, GoSpidey, Jaker, and I have been planning to do Eagle Rock Loop for some time now. There was no way we could have known that Mother Nature had other plans.

Always an adventure! Glad y'all were able to make the best of it. The change in plans seem to work out well.

It was nice meeting you guys! Definitely have to do it again when it's a little more dry and safe for the crossings. Only three inches of rain and it made it rise 12ft...just crazy.

    Re: The ERL Attempt

I can post a few pics now... My videos didn't turn out as well as I had hoped...

Caveman sure knows how to make a burger!!!

Camp Thursday night... Nice enough, wouldn't mind going back...

Debris up over the road... This is after the crew had cleared the road...

    Go spidey and Jaker

To say it is green up here would be an understatement...

    Really cool rock formation...

We wanted to cross, but even cavemans pointing didn't get us over there...

    Friday night's camp...

Lots of fungus in them there woods...

    Fallen trees gallore...

    Saturday's campsite...

It didn't go like I had hoped... But it was a memorable weekend none the less... I had fun, made memories, hung out with old friends and met some new ones... So all was not lost... I am just glad we got out safely... Some others were not so lucky... Looking back, we should have not crossed the first water crossing in cavemans video... It doesn't seem wise at this point... But hey we all learned a little something...

We gotta get a group outing together up there. My wife and I hang out up there at least every 3 months, if not more. It's one of our favorite southern places to backpack.

Glad you made it out with all of your limbs intact.

Going across that river with a pack on is almost as crazy as Tootsie Roll making it across that lake. Man...I'm glad none of this wound up being on a B-reel somewhere of "what not to do while hiking".

Murphy definitely showed up on this trip, but it looks like you made the best of things. There're times when you just can't do anything about what happens with Mother Nature, and you've just got to roll with the punches. You guys did great with that, and I salute you!

Thanks for the great video, trip report, and pictures, guys.

    Thumbs up

WHEW ... I think a lot of us have had trips like that! Where Murphy's Law just doesn't cover it. Finnegan's Corollary is more to the point. It state's that Murphy was an optimist!

Rightly enjoyed watching that river crossing! Good thing about these kind of trips they get mo'betta in the re-telling! Ha!

Thanks for sharing the adventure! Loved the video!

Thanks Brute and Caveman for posting pics and video. Love the panoramic shots.
Jakes, nice to meet and camp with you, hope we all can give it a try when it’s dry(er)
Although it did not go as planned, it was an adventure no doubt. I definitely left some of my DNA with the skeeters there
Any time I can hang a hammock in the woods with good folks I’m happy.
