    First post question

Hello I am a turkey and deer hunter .....I hunt in the nc mountains very close to the Appalachian trial .......my question is I always get up around 3:00 am and hike the mountain to hunt but after getting there I'm woreout. I am interested in hammocking to Expand my time outdoors .....I have camped in a tent many times but it is just to heavy for hauling up the mountain ..........I am interested in the ridge runner.... but I am a big man 6 foot 276 pounds .....any suggestions for a light weight set up for a big man ......... Awesome sight fellows .........when I say big man I'm not overweight just big bone man so comfort is a concern for me getting into hammocking ....Thankyou for your help Preacher

    Welcome to the forums Preacherritchie!

Don't worry, the MODS here should move this to the right place for you..

I'll let the hammockers over 6' answer your questions with their experiences... Many of our menbers use hammocking while hunting.

Meanwhile you could send a message to WarbonnetGuy asking which RidgeRunner may work best for you.

    Hey Preacherritchie, welcome to HFs.
I've never tried a RR so I can't speak to that, but as a Black Bird owner I can say that Warbonnet does make good stuff.
A couple of years ago I retired my BB in favor of a Night Owl. For me, it is a more comfortable hammock. The NO is a foot longer and gives me a flatter lay. There is no bug net, but I only need that in the heat of summer.
I use a Tadpole tarp and find that to be a winning combo.
The Tadpole is available in camo also, so you might find it useful as a blind?
Total weight 38.5 oz. or 2.4 lbs. suspension and all, and it's rated to 375 pounds.
    That's my go to rig.

6'2" and 360 here, just been sleeping out in backyard with my xlc and did an overnighter last week, its beautiful, 41 oz with the tree straps, plus you have the variation of with a net, without and with a overcover. fOLLLOW brandons videos on set up..very important, also there is dream hammocks and tree to tree trail gear, with their switchback 1.9. but if your just looking for a lightweight hammock for rest and not in need of a camping hammock with the extras, look at the eno double nest, with a 400lb rating and gets the job done,,,but i digress as its part of the fun here to keep searching, so like its been said before,,welcome to the madness
It's not the boulders that throw us off balance, it's the pebbles beneath our feet
