    2nd Blackbird ordered!

I just ordered a 1.1 Double for my son. Along with a superfly(for me) in case I get the itch to hang up north in the colder months. Can't wait to see the set up with the superfly

Does anyone have sugestion on stakes? I am using wallyworld aluminum hook head round stakes. They are fine for here in FL, but they like to bend and am worried about harder ground in my future travels.

I was told to use some called MSR ground hogs from Rei from quit a few people here. I was using the exact same ones as you and they would slide right out of ground. Or bend even.

My hammock setup takes 8 stakes. 6 for the JRB large tarp and 2 for tieout on my Hennessy. I take 4 MSR Groundhog stakes and 4 Vargo Titanium Ultra Lite Stakes. This has worked out well so far. Usually I use the Groundhogs on the 4 corners and the Vargos on the center tieout of tarp and for the HH. Or switch them around depending on ground. If stormy or windy, I'll try to tie off to rocks, small tree trunks, logs, etc. or I'll position heavy rocks over stakes.

All aluminum tent stakes aren't the same. Soft aluminum bends easily but the Aluminum 7075-T6 ones aren't too bad . I had given up on that style of tent stakes until someone showed me these a few years back.

You certainly want something with as much surface area as you can get down in that soft sand of Florida. MSR Groundhogs were the only stakes I found that would reliably hold in that stuff. Rocks are your friend when the wind kicks up; just put it on top of the stake.
    Trust nobody!

Another vote for groundhogs. If you can get them into the ground you have to pretty much have hurricane force winds to pop them out (which did happen to me this weekend and it was in very very soft pine forest dirt)

I am Sold, checked them out at REI. They are light and reasonable. Thanks all for the suggestion all.
