My only advice would be to have a thought or reason to help keep you going for thosse times you may not want to. Anyone can start a trip but finishing takes something extra especially when unexpected things happen. Have a great safe trip!

Don't let life get in the way of living.
I hope to some day hike the Appalachian trail too, and will most
likely start in main and head south. Since I have never dome it I have no great profound advice for you, but I will tell you one thing that I have learned on longer hikes in general. Don't feel obligated to keep a schedule... Sleep until you wake up, hike until you are to tired to hike any more and every seven days religious or not have a day of rest. You will enjoy yourself more if you can let go.
I would love to hear more about sobo's....
It's not the boulders that throw us off balance, it's the pebbles beneath our feet
If you write a book about your experiences on the trail I bet many will buy it, I'd love to read more, I'll buy one.
I'll definitely think about it. It never crossed my mind to write a book, but I could definitely look in to it.
Good luck on your journey, while the hike is physically stressful remember it's much more mental. Keep your head in the game and enjoy the time.

It's always best if your an early riser!

Good luck Wesley. I can't wait to section hike it, I doubt I'll ever get the time to TH the AT but man, that would definitely be a dream come true. Maybe when I retire in 20 years, I'll only be in my 50's.
