I just completed a 3 day trek outside Devil's Den state park. It was mostly a bushwack with some time spent traveling horse, old 4x4 , or logging road trails as long as they ran the direction I was headed. It was awesome scenery and I only saw one other hiker. I used a DIY 1.9 11ft stretch side hammock w/ WHOOPIES I made and a homemade no seeum zippered net. Everything worked marvelously and every night's camp on an incline would have been impossible or at least very miserable with a ground setup. Anyone looking to venture into remote forested wilderness should definitely try Arkansas' National Forests. Just watch the ticks and bears.
