    Head and foot end?

    Hi all,

I have an Expedition Asym Zip, and I was just wondering if there was a specified head end and foot end?

    Cheer!

Donna here...It has been my experience...the Hennessy label on one of the tieouts is on the right side. Therefore the zipper is on your right.

    Thanks Donna

I've slept with the zipper on my right twice, I might try sleeping the other way and see how that feels..

I have the zipper on my left (but I'm left handed). I don't think it matters.

I have a Hennessey Backpacker Asym, and I've marked the foot end by tying a small piece of green cord around the suspension rope at the entry end. That way, I don't have to guess. You might want to do something similar when you decide which side you want the zipper on.

I did the same with my Expedition Asym.

I sleep with the zipper on the left next to my shoulder. Main reason being that it makes it easy to unzip and stick my head out for stargazing and reaching things outside of the hammock.

I think Hennessy intended a head left/foot right orientation with the bottom entry, but with the zip models it really comes down to personal preference as long as you have a tieout by your shoulder and a tieout by your feet.

Is the tie out something I put on myself? (new at this!)

Doesn't much matter as long as you are laying head to the left and feet to the right as they intend for the asym lay.
When I got my Exped side zip I asked Kelty at Hennessy, she suggested that people with long hair may want to lay with the zipper away from them to avoid getting their hair caught.
    Cheers

The tie outs are part of the hammock - the attachment points with cord that get staked to the ground to hold the sides out (and give the asymmetric shape). You aren't required to use them, but they do help keep the bugnet off of your face and reduce the swinging motion of the hammock.

Welcome to the wonderful world of hammocking!
