    Double Layering a HH ULBA

Has anyone tried double layering the HH ULBA? Thought it might be something that might help with winter camping so the pad/VB/etc could be placed where they don't slip around so much. I have MOD 3 full zipper one side by 2Q/ZQ.

I've double layered using both my NS and Nest with my HH ULBA. I didn't attach the slit velcro on the Nest. It worked out well and I was nice and toasty!
At first, I attached both quilts to the one quilt suspension system, but it didn't seem to hang as well as when I used two sets.

Thanks for the info. My Nest works well like that also.

But, I see I need to clarify. I meant another layer of sil-nylon or DWR to form a pocket (double layering) for holding a pad or VB on the outside. The UQ would be outside that layer.

Would love to get a double layer BB but funds are really tight. Thinking this will be my next acquistion. In the mean time---------!

That's how I use the Thermadrape UQ. Seems to be the state of the art of hammocking for 45 degF and up, or for supplementing a winter UQ.

Okay. I've been following the TD thing. Does anyone has a source for these? Thought I might try a local medical supply house near here to see what is available.

And - did anyone mod these by splitting in half to get a wider panel for use as a VB underneath the hammock?

They are 4' wide. No need to mod...

Thermadrape UQs are all being used as a VB underneath the hammock.

Before I splurged on my BB, I considered taking the stock tarp and sewing it to the underside of the HHUlBA... the problem was it would cover the entry... With the bugnet zipper up top, you could probably work it...

Great idea Red Hat. I'll stretch everything out and see if I can make that work.
