    Hanging on a boat.

I'm going on an 18 hour fishing trip Saturday, 5 hours out, 8 hours fishing, 5 hours back. I did this last year and had a great time. This time I'm thinking of bringing my hammock due to all the fishermen jamming the cabin so it's hard to find a place to sleep.

I am figuring on hanging at the front of the boat once we head out. Going to use a pad and a zero degree bag. I'm thinking of using my sock to protect from spray but if it's smooth I shouldn't even need that.

I'll post pictures when I get back. Maybe I'll convert some of the fishermen.

boy talk about convection being in the front of the boat and your in the NJ area last time I looked it was cold there and all your going to take is a 0 degree bag and a pad WoW this will be something to write about.

Can't wait to here about it sounds fun and I have often thought about that on these live aboard dive trips I take. but I pay 1800 dollars to live on a yacht I cant make myself sleep out side all tho some do. but to hang in a hammock during the day and after it get's dark as you motoring to the next dive site would be fantastic.

good luck and have a blast cant wait for the details and pictures.

Temps going to be in the 50's over the weekend so I figure low 30's at night on the water while moving. I'll probably bring my underquilt just in case. First time trying the pad.

Sounds like a very interesting experiment

I've only slept on the deck of an enormous ferry between Italy and Greece,
slept on ground in a 40F bag and OCF pad . It was warm weather, unfortunately i cant find the temperatures of that night. There has to be some kind of temperature log accessible on the internet though ?

My point is, even on such a large ferry being quite a way up from ocean level, the bag collected a lot of salt, therefore i think a sock might be a good idea!

    Have a fun trip!!!

Be careful about your lashings... nothing you tie directly to an aluminum pole will stay, but stainless will take any hitch.

The ride will be much smoother at the stern, and drier as well.

    Enjoy!

Sadly the boat was too packed to try and hang my hammock, but they did have some cots on the back of the wheelhouse. Here's a pic.
