Thanks. Nine days in nature proved this design has some weaknesses.
First of all, my sewing machine could be little better, on both straps, seams breaked under load during the 3 first days. Fortunately I was able to knot these up.
Third time, I don't know what i thought but i did some sort of knot, for the buckle. This night it ended me using a new style of system I would never use again:

Basically, it still needs some work, under load of 260 lbs buckles go little bit looser, that means me + my gear.

On the bright side, it still works but it needs some tuning to be safe.

Live and learn. Learn through advice or through experience. Looks like you chose the experience route. Its all good. We are all just experimenting until we find what works for us.

He's in an area that makes it difficult for him to get quality hardware.

That being, I'd ditch it. You don't need it and just adds weight to an already heavy, and possibly dangerously underrated suspension system.

Learn to sew a safe loop in one end of your straps. get rid of the buckle and caribiner. Learn to throw a Marlin Spike Hitch and use a toggle. Not as adjustable, until you figure out Whoopie slings or better yet perhaps in your case a UCR suspension, but at least reliable

    and safe!

Fortunately had some dyneema-cord that fitted my needs and replaced this godawful system with whoopie slings.
In theory I still like the simplicity of load-strap system, though whoopies are more sexy and weight less.
    Thanks for your time.
