Here's my idea of cordage, hope you like it:
Tensioning:
It's simple, fast and it works. If I need more length, it's always possible to add some cord between carabiner and load strap.

looks great an easy to adjust my only concern is the carabiner. what is it rated for?
looks like stainless the kind rated to about 300lbs or so. you may want to consider climbing rated carabiners you can find them online for a few bucks each. as an added bonus they are usually aluminium and much lighter than the stainless ones and can be rated upwards of 1000 lbs
I'm worried about carabiner also, actually it's rated for 250 lbs.
In a small country that I live in, it's difficult to find good carabiners for reasonable price.
The carabiner on picture, is bought for testing the strength of it, not for hiking gear.
as an alternative you could skip the carabiner and just wrap the strap around the tree and thread the end through the loop and then putting the un looped end in the buckle. save the weight and cost of getting new carabiners.
what's the cinch buckle? It looks to be of a lighter capacity yet. Just askin'
I have used that same cinch buckle as a tree saver, and BROKE it.
Be warned they are made of white metal and are not made to put any real load on them.
I have since cut them off and just put the strap through the loop where they were.
Dood, don't hang from that setup! The joists are way below what I could consider safe to hang from, the carabiner is surely not climbing rated, and that cinch buckle could rip apart on you. I'm sure you have tried it once and not failed, but I wouldn't sleep in it that's for sure.
Well, got some new climbing rated carabiners today.
I have used the same sort buckles about a year for now, have tested with 3-person load and done shock testing also. Feels quite reliable.
Straps should be rated for 800 lbs, for a long period I have used one buckle that has been half-way ripped through, it still holds.
I don't like the idea of getting rid of carabiners, it also means, hanging hammock would take more time.
glad to hear about the new carabiners you'll be that much safer.
I would never hang from that set-up. Too many weakest links for me.
All the same, good luck to you!
