Trail Medic made one of these a few weeks ago, and he really liked it, I actually, I liked the idea and asked for a poncho liner for Father's Day so I could make one as well, cheap fair weather under Insulation and seem to work very well
Good work. Looks awesome
Nice Michelle! I live in Asheville and have the SAME underquilt from foam and fabric!!!! My piece is almost full length and weighs about 8oz with suspension...I love it. I'm guessing the foam and fabric next to Diamond Brand? The box in the corner right !?
there's some kind of saying about great minds....

Oh I never thought about looking for older used sewing machine, I bet I could find one for cheap on craigslist. Thanks for the idea. Reading all these DYI projects makes me want to try!
Please bring this UQ to the John Rock Hang.
Very, well done! Good to see several Asheville people on HF. The Army Surplus on Smoky Park HWY has some good deals too, i picked up several used for under $10.00 each.
God bless! Brent

What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other travel. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.

That's pretty impressive, Michelle. It makes me want to drag out my sewing machine and try some DIY.
How did you stitch through that thick material? Is your machine designed for that or did you just reconfigure a standard sewing machine?
