A Few Burrow Questions

I have a Pheonix UQ and I am very happy with it. I am getting rid of some stuff and will have funds to get a TQ as well. Here goes with the questions...

What is the difference between the straight taper and the half taper?

Any pics or discription on the Argon Black inner shell material?

I would like to make the most use out of one TQ, but I am a pretty warm sleeper. I had the 40* Phoenix (+ 2oz) and a 20* REI synthetic bag at 38* and was overly warm until just before dawn. So, I know everyone is different, but how low have you taken your a 50* Burrow, or could I just throw the 40* off to side and grab it if I need it.

Also, on a side note, I have seen the custom cuben pack cover that Shug got from Adam. Does he make these at request or was that a special exception.

So I have the 50 Burrow and 40 Phoenix combo and with a light layer of clothing have been comfy down to 35. I have pics of both these items in my gallery as well as did a gear review of them. Dry I can't post links Cause I'm on my phone.

As for the custom Cuban pack covers I got a pic of one of those to however Dutch makes those not Hammock Gear. I am not sure if he is still making them but I'd suggest sending him an email nor pm and asking.

My apologies for some information gaps on the website. I am working on filling some of those in. In the meantime, let me see if I can answer some of your questions.

Regarding the taper style:

The half taper option is for folks that might use their quilts on the ground or just need a bit more coverage in the hip area. "Active" sleepers are sometimes a fan of the extra hip room. The difference is that the straight taper starts at the widest point (the head end) and immediately begins to taper down to the narrowest point (the foot end). The half taper does not begin to narrow until about the halfway point to the foot end.

Here is a thread I just made about the new ARGON material.

My opinion on the 50° Burrow is that it is quite conservative in it's rating. YMMV but I can usually get it down closer to 40° and I am a normal to warm sleeper. Thanks LRR for your imput as well.

Dutch is the makers of those really cool pack covers but he does not do it anymore. You might pm him for any more details.

Of course it depends on the temperature rating of the quilt but there is a bit of weight change in the quilt. We have to add just a bit more goose down to compensate for the additional coverage provided by the half taper constuction.
